How It All Began: From Beads to Branding
Yellow Finch Social Co. didn’t start with a business plan—it started out of need. But what surprised me is how quickly that need turned into passion, and then into purpose.
It was one of those “Wait—I didn’t know I could do that” moments. The kind that wakes something up in you. Something that had been quietly waiting to bloom.
For me, it was the realization that I could be more than “just a mom with a big family.” That I could build something of my own, something that touched the same spark I had as a kid—selling bead animals out my window and flipping Beanie Babies so I could buy my very first puppy. (Yes, I’ve always had a little entrepreneur in me... his name was max.)
Yellow Finch Social Co. was my way of coming home to that girl—and creating space for other women and small businesses to do the same.
Why Yellow Finch?
The name came from a moment of quiet—a simple glance out my window.
My next-door neighbor had this beautiful bird feeder, and every so often I’d see this bright yellow bird flutter in, full of life, singing like it had no worries in the world. It felt free. Joyful. Alive.
And in that tiny bird, I saw me—or at least, the version of me that had been buried for a while. The creative, light-filled part of me that had been quietly waiting to be noticed again.
Yellow Finch became the symbol of that freedom. A reminder to create from joy, to help others show up as their true selves, and to never forget the beauty of being fully alive in your own story.
From Helping Friends to Building a Business
It started back in 2011, helping friends and family set up their social media accounts when they joined MLMs. I wasn’t charging. I didn’t even think to—I just loved helping.
Over time, I began growing my own pages, experimenting, testing, learning. Eventually, someone took a chance on me. I landed a short contract as a marketing manager for an event planning business, and that opened the door to everything that came next.
Looking back, I realize I’ve always been creating—websites, Amazon storefronts, resumes, brand graphics, photos. I was a photographer in college, basically minored in design, and have always been the go-to person for “Can you help me make this look good?”
Then one day it hit me: Why am I doing all this for free?
The answer was simple: because I love it. But I also realized it was time to honor that passion, give it structure, and follow it fully.
And so—Yellow Finch Social Co. took flight.
How It's Grown
I officially launched Yellow Finch Social Co. in August 2022 with just two clients—and a whole lot of hustle behind the scenes. That first half-year was filled with one-off client calls, small consults, and doing everything I could with what I had: my daughter’s computer (when she wasn’t using it for homeschool), my iPhone, and my trusty DSLR camera from my photography days.
I didn’t have a fancy setup—I had passion, skill, and a vision I couldn’t shake.
By the end of 2023, something shifted. I found confidence in my voice, clarity in my process, and a rhythm that worked. My client list grew. My identity as a creative studio owner started to feel real.
Now, in 2024, I’m supporting multiple ongoing clients (some behind-the-scenes, some proudly featured), and for the first time—I’ve hired an assistant and am expanding a team of creative managers.
It’s no longer just me. It’s a movement. And we’re only getting started.
The Heart Behind It All
At the core of everything I do is one passion: connecting people with people.
To me, social media isn’t just pictures, posts, or algorithms—it’s community. It’s real people showing up with stories, dreams, and purpose. I love bringing those stories to life, helping brands grow into their voice, and watching business owners light up as they start to truly connect with their audience.
And I absolutely love the creative process—the strategy, the visuals, the storytelling. It’s more than a job. It’s my way of building something meaningful—for my clients, and for myself.
"How Do You Manage It All?"
It’s the question I get asked the most—and I get it.
I’m a mom to a large family, I homeschool, I have hobbies I love, and I’m running a growing business. How?
Honestly... I say it’s in my DNA.I couldn’t not do this. It fuels me, and I fuel it.
I’ve learned to build in the margins. To create in the chaos. To trust that what’s meant for me will stretch with me. And somehow, it all works—not perfectly, but purposefully.
Balancing Business & Motherhood
With almost seven kids, balance looks different every day—but it’s possible.
For me, it’s all about time management and learning to work smarter, not harder. That means outsourcing where I can, building systems, and buying back my time so I can focus on what matters most—my family, my clients, and my creativity.
I don’t do it all. I do what’s aligned—and that makes all the difference.
Advice for Anyone Starting Out
Just start. It doesn’t have to be perfect—nothing is. That’s what makes it real. That’s what makes it human.
If you can think it, you can do it. You don’t need all the answers, just the willingness to take the first step.
Mindset matters. Believe in your voice, trust your path, and keep going—one bold, messy, beautiful move at a time.
